How much is the Dubai Ferry?

ArrivalsPublished
Answer

RTA's Dubai Ferry charges by route and class. The Sharjah run is the cheapest, the Marina round trip by Palm Jumeirah the dearest, and Gold costs more than Silver on every route. Most routes sail twice a day, so the timetable shapes the trip more than the fare does.

An adult Dubai Ferry ticket costs from AED 15 to AED 75, depending on the route and the class. RTAโ€™s ferry flyer, dated September 2026, lists four routes, each with a Silver and a dearer Gold fare. Children under 5 ride free on three of the four routes, and RTA takes cash, nol, credit and debit cards at every station.

FR2Marina Mall South, Bluewaters and Dubai CanalAED 25 a stopAED 35 a stop
FR4Round trip from Marina Mall SouthAED 50AED 75
FR5Al Ghubaiba and Sharjah AquariumAED 15AED 25

RTA heads its fare column โ€œfare per stopโ€. On FR2 that matters. The flyer lists Marina Mall South to Bluewaters and Bluewaters to Dubai Canal as separate legs, and it gives no single fare from the Marina to Dubai Canal. Ask at the station before you assume one ticket covers both legs.

Gold adds AED 10 on FR1, FR2 and FR5, and AED 25 on FR4. RTAโ€™s charter listing gives a ferry 14 Gold seats and 84 Silver seats, so Gold is a small share of the boat.

FR4 is the only round trip of the four. RTA names it Dubai Marina Mall โ€“ Palm Jumeirah โ€“ Atlantis The Palm, sells it as a round trip, and lists Marina Mall South as its only station.

Most routes sail twice a day

FR1, FR2 and FR4 run the same times every day of the week. RTA asks passengers to be at the station before the printed time, because departure times vary from station to station.

With two boats a day in each direction, plan the trip back before you set out. Miss the second boat and the ferry has nothing later that day.

Sharjah: weekday mornings, weekend afternoons

FR5 has the most departures and is the only route whose timetable changes by day. On Saturday and Sunday there is no morning boat in either direction.

A return trip to Sharjah in Silver costs AED 30 an adult. On every day in the table, the last boat back from Sharjah leaves before the last boat out from Dubai. Take the last departure from Al Ghubaiba and there is no ferry back that day.

Children and families

On FR1, FR2 and FR5, children ride free under 5 on FR1, FR2 and FR5. FR4 prices children differently: ages 2 to 10 pay AED 25 in Silver and AED 37.5 in Gold. RTAโ€™s flyer does not say what a child under 2 pays on FR4.

FR4 is also the only route with a family offer, for 2 adults and 2 children:

FR4 classFamily offerFour separate ticketsSaving
SilverAED 140AED 150AED 10
GoldAED 210AED 225AED 15

On every RTA boat, children travel under 12 only with an adult, and in a life jacket, and staff can ask for the childโ€™s ID at the ticket office. Bring the childโ€™s passport.

The same hop costs less by water taxi

Marina Mall South to Bluewaters is on two RTA boats. The ferry, FR2, charges AED 25 in Silver. The Dubai Water Taxi, route BM3, charges AED 7 for the same hop, AED 18 less. If you only need to cross to Bluewaters, the water taxi is the cheaper RTA boat. What an abra or water taxi costs lists its other fares.

Where this page stops

It gives no through fare for a trip that uses two FR2 legs, because RTAโ€™s flyer does not print one. It does not say what a child under 2 pays on FR4, for the same reason.

RTAโ€™s flyer warns that Ramadan and public holiday timings may differ, that some routes may be temporarily out of service, and that bad weather can cancel or reroute trips. The times above are the regular timetable.

It does not cover private dhow cruises or boat tours. They are not RTA boats, and RTA does not set their prices.

Where these figures come from

The fares, departure times, childrenโ€™s fares, family offer and payment methods are from RTAโ€™s Dubai Ferry flyer, a PDF linked from RTAโ€™s timetable page. We read its fare table and timetable directly. The seat counts are from the Dubai Ferry charter listing on RTAโ€™s timetable page, and the water taxi fare and the childrenโ€™s rule are from RTAโ€™s About Marine page.
