Can you book a women-only taxi in Dubai?
Yes, and visitors can use it. Dubai's pink-roof taxi has a female driver. Book it in the S'hail or Bolt app or take one from the rank at DXB or DWC. RTA's page lists it for women; Dubai Taxi, which runs it, also carries families.

Yes, and you do not need to live in Dubai to use it. Dubai Taxi, the company that runs it, calls it the Families and Ladies Taxi and describes what you get as a van with a pink roof and a female driver. RTA, the transport authority that sets taxi fares, lists the same service as its female taxi and names who can use it: female citizens, residents and visitors.
Who can ride, and where to find one
The two official pages describe the same taxi but not in the same words.
| RTA (transport authority) | Dubai Taxi (operator) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can ride | female citizens, residents and visitors | women and families of any nationality |
| Who drives | not stated | a van with a pink roof and a female driver |
| Where to get one | the S'hail and Bolt apps, and the taxi ranks at Dubai International (Terminals 1, 2 and 3) and Al Maktoum International | the Bolt and S'hail apps, the taxi ranks at Dubai's airports and Port Rashid, and on the road when one passes |
They differ in two places. Dubai Taxiโs rule lets families ride, so a family group that includes a man fits it; RTAโs page names women only. And Dubai Taxi lists hailing one on the road, which RTAโs page does not. For a woman travelling alone the two agree on everything that matters: she can use it, and the app or the airport rank is where to find one.
Booking it in an app
In RTAโs own Sโhail app the womenโs taxi is not a separate service. You book a taxi the usual way and pick the vehicle type before you confirm. Dubai Taxi names the option the Families and Ladies Taxi, with a pink roof. Bolt is listed as a channel by both RTA and Dubai Taxi; neither says what the option is called inside Bolt.
Neither page gives the number of cars on the road or a waiting time, and Dubai Taxi describes the service as running upon availability. If you need a car at a fixed hour, that is the gap to plan around.
At the airport
Both pages list the taxi ranks at Dubai Internationalโs three terminals and at Al Maktoum (DWC). Dubai Taxi gives the base fare there as AED 25. That is a van fare: RTAโs table charges AED 25 for a van from the airport and AED 20 for a regular car. So at the airport the womenโs taxi starts AED 5 above a regular car, before any distance is counted.
What it costs against a regular taxi
| Womenโs taxi | Regular taxi | |
|---|---|---|
| Starting fare, booked in an app | AED 9 to AED 13 by time of day | the same |
| Minimum fare, booked in an app | AED 13 | the same |
| Starting fare at the airport | AED 25 | AED 20 for a car |
| Per kilometre | AED 2.19 | AED 2.45 in a Dubai Taxi car |
Per kilometre the womenโs taxi is the cheaper of the two, by AED 0.26. RTA does not publish a per-kilometre rate for its regular taxi, so that comparison is against Dubai Taxiโs own figure for its regular cars. On a short app trip the difference disappears into the minimum fare, and at the airport the van base fare puts the womenโs taxi above a regular car.
Everything else on what gets added to a taxi fare applies in the same way: Salik gates, the Sharjah surcharge and waiting time. You pay the same ways as in any RTA taxi: cash, credit card, nol card, Careem Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Alipay, QR code payment and American Express.
Where this page stops
It does not tell you how long you will wait, for the reason above. It does not cover Ameera, which Dubai Taxi sells separately as a luxury limousine for women. And it does not cover Uber or other luxury-vehicle apps, which sit on a different RTA list โ whether Uber costs more than a taxi sets those out. If you are landing at DXB, the airport-to-city options set the taxi against the metro and the bus.
Where these figures come from
Who can ride, where to find one and the womenโs taxi rate per kilometre come from RTAโs service page Transport Using Taxi Vehicles, female tab. The driver, the pink roof, the family rule, the airport base fare and the regular per-kilometre rate come from Dubai Taxiโs own pages for the Families and Ladies Taxi and for its regular taxi. The starting fares, minimum fare and payment methods are on RTAโs fare table, which lists the same app fares for the womenโs taxi as for a regular one. We read all three pages directly.
