Can you get someone to carry your bags at Dubai airport, and what does it cost?

Two things at DXB look like the same service and are priced completely differently. Taking a trolley costs nothing. Having someone push it costs money, and how much depends on which terminal you landed in.

What the airport publishes

Trolleys are free of charge at locations across DXB and DWC. There is no deposit, no coin slot and no return fee — which is worth saying plainly, because plenty of large airports charge for exactly this.

A porter is a separate service with a published price, and it is not the same price everywhere.

The price depends on the terminal

Two details in that table matter more than the numbers themselves.

The Terminals 1 and 2 figure is a starting price that rises with time, and Dubai Airports does not publish how fast. The Terminal 3 figure is given flat. So a short walk to the taxi rank and a long wait while someone finds the rest of the family are not the same transaction in Terminal 1, and the airport does not tell you what the difference costs.

The flat-bed is for loads a regular trolley will not take — a stack of boxes, an outsized case, a pram plus luggage. Only Terminal 3 has a published price for one.

You pay the porter, not the airport

Payment is paid directly to the porter. It is not added to a booking, not billed by the airline, and not charged at a machine. Dubai Airports names no card option, so the practical advice is to have small notes before you clear customs — which is awkward if you have not changed money yet and are planning to use a card for everything.

When this is actually worth it

The decision is not really about the bags. It is about what happens after you leave the hall.

• If someone is meeting you inside, you have hands available and the trolley is free. Paying for a porter here buys very little.
• If you are taking the Metro, the trolley does not come with you past the station, so the porter helps for one stretch of an onward journey that has several.
• If you are heading straight to a car, this is where it pays — one person, several bags, and a kerb that is not next to the exit.

That last case is also the one where the cheaper answer may be a different one: a pre-booked car whose driver handles the luggage as part of the fare, rather than a porter at one end and a struggle at the other. If the bags are staying at the airport, left luggage at DXB replaces the porter entirely.

What this page does not tell you

It gives no hourly rate, because Dubai Airports publishes a starting price and says it increases with time without saying by how much. Any specific per-hour figure you find elsewhere did not come from the airport.

It also does not cover baggage delivery to a UAE address, which is an airline service with its own pricing rather than an airport one.
